Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Hi Paaaaal
buggesroom live:
hi spaceman
jokerfish:
Loook at him. He's all smokey ...
buggesroom live:
smoked soaking psyched and bugged out
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Greasings and lubrications from the looneytick fringe
buggesroom live:
whats a lubrication?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Depends on whether it comes from the north or the south according to Frank Zappa ...
jokerfish:
Oil from Stavanger
buggesroom live:
if its from the north of Zappa?
trym logged out (timeout)
buggesroom live:
or stavanger?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I once scaled the north face of Frank Zappa, but Sir Edmund Hilary was the first to reach the summit ...
buggesroom live:
you`re all too clued up,dhahii
jokerfish:
Slobber from the side of your mouth, I do believe FZ said!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Sadly, I know all, I see all and do NOTHING!
jokerfish:
Diminished responsibility?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Why ARE you pink, JF?
jokerfish:
I don't know. Some cruel Wesseltoftian jest.
buggesroom live:
its the bubble gum trick
buggesroom live:
hubba bubba
buggesroom live:
hugga bugge
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Does that lead to a bubblegum crisis?
buggesroom live:
its a gesture from the bald and spectacled
jokerfish:
I hugged a Bugge once.
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Was it good?
buggesroom live:
probably yes
jokerfish:
Words fail me
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Or your brain in general ...
Dee:
Can I ask if you ever record your live shows for future DVD release?..
buggesroom live:
words usually nail me
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
But mariners sail me
jokerfish:
Banjo players frail me
buggesroom live:
Dee:they are recorded and might appear on cd
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
DVDs? Why?
Dee:
great, that would be a cool thing..
King Kong logged out (timeout)
buggesroom live:
I ain`t heard nuthin`bout no dvdee`s
jokerfish:
Did you ever get chili powder in your eye while your cooking?
buggesroom live:
was that for me?
jokerfish:
Was what for who?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
A good live DVD would be nice, but I like AUDIO!
buggesroom live:
the great chili powder question
Dee:
I was talking to Herbie Hancock last summer about DVDs and he seemed really interested in that concept for recording..
jokerfish:
For whoever. It's just that I did, and it hurts like f**k!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I dunno. I think for sound they might be worthwhile, but personally, I don't know whether or not visuals are important
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
What about SACDs?
Dee:
if done right maybe they can be
King Konge logged in
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Well, the Molvaer DVD of Hamburg was quite nice, but the "Art" stuff I have only briefly looked at. Maybe I should try it with chili in my eye, or a herb in my bong? :)
buggesroom live:
do you mean like dvd concerts? or do you mean dvd with surround sound audio, bonus features and so on?
jokerfish:
Concerts need the visuals. What's the point without?
Dee:
more towards surround sound with features..
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Maybe. But I think that visuals outside of Live performance tend to be crass and pretentious.
buggesroom live:
ok, like the remastered Talking Heads records?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Or else they become pop videos!
Dee:
ive not seen them Bugge sorry..
jokerfish:
Dee - that's Paal Strangefruit!
buggesroom live:
I am not Bugge, I am Paul
Dee:
oh sorry I thought Bugge was there aswelll...
Dee:
sorry paul...
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I - ashamed as I am to admit it, have not seen them either.
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
What's on them?
buggesroom live:
he is lurking around, bald and spectacled the mystic cartoon
Dee:
I could see you there but thought you as all sitting there..my apologies
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Better sound? Bonus cuts? Making-of videos?
jokerfish:
He ate my mother!!!
kvernis logged in
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Your mother, JF?
jokerfish:
She was a Halibut
Dee:
well I don't really like the idea of thinking video as that seems to be done, but I think maybe like how we went from mono to stereo maybe change is important in certain ways..
jokerfish:
My dad was a herring
jokerfish:
I live in a lovely tank in Buggesroom
jokerfish:
Ahh, Dee! He's gone for a quick wheeze on a fag
Dee:
Thats cool,sure he deserves it..
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
Have you ever been to MySpace, Dee?
Dee:
no I'm not into that myspace.com thing
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:

buggesroom live:

Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:

buggesroom live:

jokerfish:
One that looks like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Carribean
Dee:

buggesroom live:

buggesroom live:

Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:

jokerfish:

jokerfish:

Dee:

jokerfish:
Of course I'm right, you big Irish eejit!
Dee:
where are you both from if you dont mind me asking?.
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
What kind of stuff was on your embargoed CD, Dee?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I'm from Ireland
Dee:
oh its my modern jazz
jokerfish:
So am I not from Oslo or Stavanger, but possibly not London either too as well also
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Cool.
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Bugge-style modern?
jokerfish:
I'm from Ireland as well (but don't tell anyone!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
He is not!
Dee:
well yes its a fusion of my thoughts on what a certain form of jazz can be for the future
Dee:
my mother is irish ;)
Dee:
from Cork.
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Excellent! Set up a MySpace space so we all can hear some!
jokerfish:
Don't talk about me as if I wasn't here, please!
Dee:
i have a website
Dee:
www.deecrell.com
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Cork! Quite a city - only beemn there once, though
Dee:

Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I'll check that out, Dee!
buggesroom live logged out (timeout)

Dee:

Dee:

Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Sites take time!
jokerfish:
Very moody music!
Dee:
yeah...I wanted to have hands on so to speak as I just want it more friendly then anything else you know?.
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
It is, but cool!
jokerfish:
Hands on? The site? What you mean?
Dee:
Thanks,I should put up some of the electronic stuff and the orchestra stuff but I havent had time
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Big band? Or string orchestra?
Dee:
string mainly..
jokerfish:
It's quite ECM. Even the video
Dee:
i used to play some big band..but its mad after a while
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I like strings. And woodwinds. Oboe and bassoon float my boat!
Dee:
thats kind of you joker..thank you..
jokerfish:
Did you do the video yourself?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Yeah the whole thing is a really nice "package"
Dee:
yeah its my own photography and someone just asked me to put one on it
jokerfish:
Very good you are, Sir!
King Konge logged out (timeout)
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I think we've been forgotten!
Dee:
thanks so much guys..I have been out of music for a while and only going back into it after really close people to me asked me to again..
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I know that feeling!
Dee:
yes they are swigging there beer..
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I actually stopped, but resumed after 9 years.
Dee:
what did you Dhaii as you seem to really know your music..
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
But I can't play like I used to. I injured my hands, and I can't play with any speed, really - which is bad for a mandolin player.
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I bluff well!
jokerfish:
That sounds about right!
Dee:
lol..you did or didnt play?.. sorry I am one of those who gets confused..
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
I think we're going to have to wrap up soon!
Dee:
hey joker are you in Norway aswell?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
No! I played until I was 23, stopped for 9 years, started again, stopped again for another years, and now just can't stop!
jokerfish:
Not tonight! I'm sending Bugge an SMS
Dee:
thats cool Dahii, please keep with it as I think music needs good people you know?.
Dee:
oh but you are from Norway joker?..
jokerfish:
That's very decent of you! You wouldn't say that if you heard me!
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
No! I'm also Irish!
Dee:
oh,cool, how did you guys discover Bugge/
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
He's lying about that! You can find me on MySpace as well, Dee!
jokerfish:
He caught and ate my mother
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Via ECM
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
You?
Dee:
I was given Moving by a close friend and I took it out and walked around the city of london one night while taking some photos for a break,
jokerfish:
Hello?
jokerfish:
Oh!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Moving is a super album!
Dee:
and I just thought it was composed by a very beautiful heart and mind you know?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Not just for Bugge - for anyone!
Dee:
yes,its a classic,it has space in it that is almost like a composition in its self you know?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I know what you mean. I used to play that album at work on a CD player, and everyone who heard it liked it
Dee:
yeah it really has beauty about it..
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Exactly. It's like Asian music
Dee:
yeah I love Asian music..
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
The silences are as measured and weighted as the sounds
Dee:
i live near to brick lane in London and man there is loads there you can grab to hear
jokerfish:
What the hell are you guys like?
Dee:
yeah thats a really good way to explain it Dhaii
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I was there in the wayback! About 1989
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Thanks, Dee
Dee:
and do you guys know Bugge or just through his music?.
jokerfish:
London in 89?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I know him!
jokerfish:
And he ate my mother, so he's accountable!
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
No! Brick Lane!
Dee:
thats cool that you know him..he seems to have a nice vibe about him
jokerfish:
He's accountable and Audun K is Ohmagoddabl
Dee:
what album would you say is really good to hear audun on?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
He's a cool guy! But I don't want to seem too kissass!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Ohmagoddabl
jokerfish:
Generator X
Dee:
no,being yourself and being honest is not bad to be you know..
Dee:
cool thanks Joker..
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
hehe! He knows what I'm like!
Dee:
lol
Dee:
so what music do you guys like away from Bugge..
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
All manner of oddness!
Dee:
lol..i guessed so with you guys..
jokerfish:
Check out musiconline.no for good Norwegian jazz
Dee:
yeah will do that as Norwegian jazz seems so strong..
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I like anything that has an intelligence behind it. Even if the artists themselves are unaware of it!
Dee:
yeah I feel the same,
jokerfish:
The Norwegian scene is stronger than any other jazz scene at the moment
Dee:
I find I don't listen to,too much American music anymore..
Dee:
yeah I agree Joker, well from what I hearing..
Dee:
they seem to be more open minded..
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
For example, I have been listening a lot to Fugazi, who are an emocore band. VEYR loud
Dee:
I'll check them out Dahii
jokerfish:
Yes, but they also know that enjoying what you do is what is important, mostly. They get on with it, and don't get caught up in stupid ideas about rules.
Dee:
oh man that is so true,as I hate that about some of the forms of music that are controlled by certain powers that be in the UK..
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
hahah! Probably best to listen on Amazon first - an acquired taste! But I'm also listening quite a bit to early ECM and some acoustic jazz at the moment. Ingo Flaten and those gut=ys.
Dee:
I can't understand why people want to force a rule to something you know?
jokerfish:
UK? I'm Irish! Don't get me started! ;)
Dee:
cool,ECM what a beautiful label..
Dee:
lol..
Dee:
hey remember im Half..
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
It makes them feel safe and comfortable.
jokerfish:
Hehehe! You're half-absolved!
Dee:
yeah...I used to make a real lost of dance music and I couldn't handle some of the dj's that took control..
Dee:
it has changed more now but at times it was so close knit.
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I'm mostly listening to John Abercrombie. of all things!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
DJs are a special breed!
Dee:
man you guys have a real broad taste..thats really cool..
jokerfish:
Broad taste ... Marilyn Monroe
Dee:
yes they can be..I have worked with quite a few and I swear some couldn't find the on off switch of a plug let alone produce a track..
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I've also been listening to a lady called Happy Rhodes - kinda like Kate Bush
Dee:
and yet others can be amazing..
Dee:
never heard of it Dhaii..
jokerfish:
Some are like that!
Dee:
how do you find about so much different stuff..through the net?
Dee:
yes true Joker
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Neither had I until I went to MySpace (plug-plug!) It's the best thing about the place - I've "discovered" loads of music I wouldn't have otherwise!
Dee:
is it worth checking out then as I was not to interested in that when I heard of it for some reason..
jokerfish:
I began as a MySpace skeptic. Now, I am a Myspace evangelist!
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I thought it sounded like a lame pyramid scheme for musicians
Dee:
and you guys have your own spaces right?
jokerfish:
Not I. For I am not a musical personage!
Dee:
but you are in your own way joker ;)
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I do, but I have not put up what I really consider my good music yet!
jokerfish:
I jest, that is my music!
Dee:
whats your site name and link Dhaii
Dee:
lol..joker
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I have some remixes to do, and then I'll do what I do best!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
www.myspace.com/dhahii
Dee:
cool Dhaii,thanks for that..
jokerfish:
It's rubbish, man! He thinks he's beethoven!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
It's mostly demo stuff from way-back-when. Apart from the Molvaer remix
Dee:
just hooked on now ;)
jokerfish:
Bloody remix! You'd think he'd have got over that by now!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Cheers!
Dee:
;)
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Not you, JF - Dee!
Dee:
lol
Dee:
sounds cool man
jokerfish:
Fi-diddly dee! Not you, Dee
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Thanks! But it's not quite what I'm up to. My music is more "rustic corrosion"
jokerfish:
I think they're all getting pissed
Dee:
have you released work Dhaii?
jokerfish:
Oi! Strangefruit! Knut! Say hello to Danny Anderson for me!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
No - planning to release something, but it's never worked out
Dee:
keep with it
Dee:
;)
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Difficult to find people that are interested in joining in!
jokerfish:
Oh, he will! He's been whining at me for years now!
Dee:
where we are all one big happy family so you never know now eh?
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Yeah - the world is becoming more like a big hometown!
jokerfish:
Yeah. Swansea
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Swansea?
jokerfish:
Crappest city I know.
Dee:
lol..swansea
Dee:
lmao
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Imao?
Dee:
oh as in laughing my butt off etc..
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Aha!
jokerfish:
I had a girlfriend from Swansea. She had abnormally long toes
Dee:
joker..thats so funny..
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Was she actually human?
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
I think so
Dee:
you hope so
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Wouldn't that pose a probl;em for a fish???
jokerfish:
I must admit that thr=e thought had crossed my mind
jokerfish:
Hope has little effect, Dee!
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
You are the male equivalent of the little mermaid
jokerfish:
And you need a haircut, ape-descendent
Dee:
lol..i have this really strange image of you both now..
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I think I'm going to turn in! Morning comes early!
Dee:
yes very true..
jokerfish:
Fader!
Dee:
anything important tomorrow at your end guys?
jokerfish:
I'll sit here until one of those Damned Norwegians reappears with his Neutrogena-enriched hands
Dee:
yeah I think it is quite cool they left it on for us.
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Nah. Just the usual rubbish. Then the WEEKEND! Which means making music and playing games with the family"
Dee:
sounds a nice weekend ;)
jokerfish:
They will scrutinize this, and shape music according to our excreted brainwaves
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Damn good weekend!
Dee:
;)
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
What about yourself?
jokerfish:
I'll try swimming anticlockwise around my aquarium
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Not you!
Dee:
Im just working on a remix for someone in the states, sadly a dance track so its 44 in my head for hours..
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Dee!
Dee:
lol..joker
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Cool!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Anyone we know?
Dee:
still listening to your music Dahii..
jokerfish:
We? Who made you chairman of the board?
Dee:
on the 3rd one ;)
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Oh man! Don't! It'll hurt you!
Dee:
oh J B rose..
Dee:
think she is the singer for incongnito..
Dee:
or something like that..
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
J B Rose? Why is that a little familiar?
Dee:
but its from the la stylze album which is out in japan..
jokerfish:
You're thinking of Axl Rose, ya big shite!
Dee:
lol
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Cool!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
I'm really gonna have to flake out. See you guys at the next chat!
Dee:
yeah ok mate..God bless ,was really nice to talk to you..
jokerfish:
Adios, Sir Boilforaface!
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
You too! Nighty-night!
Dee:
;)
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola:
Bless you too, Dee!
Dee:
you staying Joker?
Dee:
thanks Dahii
jokerfish:
I am!
Dee:
;)
jokerfish:
You
jokerfish:
?
Dee:
yeah I'm here for a bit...
Dee:
but brain is getting slower
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
A bit of what?
Dee:
lol..
jokerfish:
My brain is fast, because if I don't write what I mean to quickly enough I forget what I'm typing.
Dee:
lol
Dee:
so do you work in computers Joker?
jokerfish:
Are you hoping to release your music via Jazzland?
jokerfish:
Yes, but nothing glamourous. Small time systems administrator
jokerfish:
And the webmaster of da Bugge!
Dee:
well I am not sure in that way as I haven't really thought about that but it would be nice to get advice and make contacts with people that can maybe help me and guide me a bit you know?
jokerfish:
You've come to the right place!
Dee:
oh so you was the bugge dummy that time..
jokerfish:
These guys KNOW tthings.
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
Ahhh. I have never been Bugge!
jokerfish:
He has nicer people for that task!
jokerfish:
:)
Dee:
yeah they do,I have a'lot of people in London that are into me,but I don't like what there labels are doing,I don't see a future you know?
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
The future is electronic
Sir Dhahii the Space Cabriola logged out (timeout)
Dee:
yeah I think the future is more in musicans hands again now with technology you know>
jokerfish:
Once computers become completely normalized, people will have them in their living rooms, and they'll be the heart of their media lives
Dee:
yeah,thats really true jf
jokerfish:
Yes. Computers showed people that the studio p[rocess was more straightforward than they imagined
jokerfish:
It put live performance back at the centre of the musician's world
Dee:
yeah,I really like the way it has made things happen again..
Dee:
its like when akai samplers arrived..
Dee:
lol
Dee:
in a sense?
Dee:
if you get what i mean
jokerfish:
Yeah, I know what you mean!
Dee:
did you create this web site ?
jokerfish:
No. OrgDot made it. I am in the process of adding stuff to it
jokerfish:
There will be a lot of cool stuff appearing over the next while
Dee:
cool... how long have you been into web building for?
jokerfish:
But it's hard to get the time
jokerfish:
Since 1996
Dee:
yeah i can imagine
Dee:
wow...
Dee:
do you use dreamweaver?.
jokerfish:
Jayzuss! 10 years!
Dee:
lol
Dee:
showing your age
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
I use many tools, but Macromedia stuff is the backbone
jokerfish:
Flash is my main weapon
Dee:
yeah I have been learning bits about it and it seems a good software to use..
Dee:
i was looking at preloads..
Dee:
made one and then couldnt work out how to make it move to the page after
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
It is - has been since it first appeared. It was the first WYSIWYG editor that was worth investing in
jokerfish:
Oh you mean Flash!
Dee:
do you think fireworks is good aswell?
Dee:
yeah i tried the preloader in flash
jokerfish:
Yeah, it takes time to learn Flash, but you'll get there.
jokerfish:
Fireworks is excellent, but I usually use Photoshop first, and then compress the graphics using Fireworks
Dee:
yeah,it is fun though when I get the time, its very addictive i find
jokerfish:
But Fireworks is good for building a design in
Dee:
yeah I have ps aswell..
jokerfish:
Webbuilding can take over your life.
jokerfish:
And PS DOES take over your life!
Dee:
I am using the cs one
Dee:
yeah I can imagine it will..
jokerfish:
For some reason my PC doesn't like it. So I'm still on 7
Dee:
so what have you been doing on this web site lately if you dont mind me asking
Dee:
wow really?..
jokerfish:
Well, I'm working on webcam galleries
Dee:
you will think im nuts but i still like using windows 200o rather then xp?
jokerfish:
And I'm putting together something really special!
Dee:
wow...im looking forward to seeing it..
jokerfish:
I understand 2000 over XP - it uses 1/2 the resources!
Dee:
does it?..wow I never knew that,
Dee:
I just find it seems to be more stable in certain areas
jokerfish:
Yes, it's a thing unlike any other musician site. Plus there will be other things uncommon on the web.
Dee:
do you help to do the live streams aswell
jokerfish:
The Explorer is where XP is most unstable in my experience
jokerfish:
No, OrgDot look after the live streams
Dee:
oh...do you know the guys at orgdot?
jokerfish:
If I looked after the live streams, I would need a producer console and at least 4 cameras!
Dee:
oh i see
jokerfish:
I haven't met them yet, but I get intouch by email occasionally. They're busy, so I usually try not to hassle them with my mad ideas about weblife!
jokerfish:
yeah - I would go OTT for the live stream!
Dee:
yeah,I see what you mean.. its really cool that you are involved in the future of this site though..
jokerfish:
Yes, it's an honour and a privelege ... hang on! No! I've fallen out of characcter! The mask has slipped!
Dee:
lol
Dee:
how did you meet everyone?
jokerfish:
Via email!
Dee:
wow,the power of the internet..
jokerfish:
I was suggested to Bugge by a mutual friend - she was meant to be the webmaster, but was too busy. She suggested me. I said I'd love to. So far, I have been working in the lab. But the guinea pigs are all dead, so it's time to unleash my formula on the world!
Dee:
lol...
Dee:
you are a very witty guy jf
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
Thank you, sir! You are a gentleman!
Dee:
do you have your own website..
Dee:
thanks
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
No, that's the only website I could not build! I have no imagination for what it might contacin!
jokerfish:
Contain
Dee:
wow..really,I can see what you mean though
jokerfish:
Maybe if an idea strikes me I'll do something
jokerfish:
Yeah. It's hard to come up with stuff, isn't it?
Dee:
yeah...I find outside of the music side I dont have the time to compose then kind of compose again in a different format
Dee:
lol
Dee:
as it is a bit like making music
jokerfish:
Yeah! lol It's taxing on the mind!
Dee:
placing image etc..making it smooth
Dee:
lol..yeah it is
Dee:
do you build your own machines?
jokerfish:
And if you're trying to be true to a vision, I think it becomes harder!
jokerfish:
PCs? Yeah.
Dee:
yeah thats very very true..
Dee:
cool...
jokerfish:
Do you?
Dee:
i like to build them to...im no wizard..
Dee:
but i like the idea of knowing what i want in one then putting it
jokerfish:
Me either, but I prefer my own built ones to off the shelf ones
jokerfish:
Snap!
Dee:
yeah, they have so much junk on them
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
Dell
jokerfish:
Gateway
jokerfish:
Tiny
Dee:
cant understand how people just rush in and buy one for the silver box so to speak
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
Packard Bell
Dee:
I find Dell the worst
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
Yeah. My wife wants the ones that look nice!
Dee:
yeah my like gf
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
Dell are evil!
Dee:
yeah there motherboards are terrible..
jokerfish:
Yeah - that's where Apple got it sussed
jokerfish:
They have girl-appeal
Dee:
yeah what do you think of the intel in apple?
jokerfish:
It's a good step.
Dee:
i dont really understand what they have done?
jokerfish:
The sooner there is only computers instead of PCs and Macs, the better. This is a step in that ultimate direction
Dee:
yeah that would be so cool..
jokerfish:
Fundamentally, little has really changed. PCs and Mac both have the same basic machine coding behind them
Dee:
I love macs, but as stupid as this sounds,to grab quick softwre for problems etc,its so easier to get them for pc's then on mcas
jokerfish:
I agree.
Dee:
yeah I was told that..
Dee:
so it is true about there coding.
jokerfish:
Yeah - anyone who has had to port code between the 2 platforms knows that the differences are not as great as they're made out to be!
Dee:
wow..so in your opinion there is now a real big reason to choose one over the other
Dee:
sorry
Dee:
i mean not a real bit reason to choose
jokerfish:
I'm waiting for the quadcore quadprocessor motherboard that operates at 10Ghz, that can hadle 10Ghz Quadcore processors and accepts up to 100GB RAM
jokerfish:
:)
Dee:
wow...lol
jokerfish:
Yeah, the differences are becoming negligible
Dee:
i went to the pixar exhibtion at the science museum in london..
jokerfish:
But I still favour the PC because Apple is too exclusive
Dee:
the computers they use are mind blowing..
Dee:
yeah thats my thoughts on it
jokerfish:
Do they still use super-powered Silicon Graphics machines?
jokerfish:
One of the graphics cards in those babies sets you back a couple of years wages!
Dee:
im not sure as you know me JF I dont knnow to much about that side of things but they said there machine is a 100,000times more powerful then a standard pc..
jokerfish:
That sounds about right!
take10 logged in
jokerfish:
Hi take10
Dee:
wow...I just thought, gee to think about making music on that
Dee:
hello Take10
take10:
hi all
Dee:
;)
jokerfish:
I think that the power resides in the graphics, though.
Dee:
oh yeah that would make sense..
jokerfish:
Did you see/hear the gig, take10?
Dee:
what cpus would they use for things like that jf?
jokerfish:
Probably some kind of proprietary CPU
Dee:
wow.
jokerfish:
Although I would guess Intel Xeons, probably Quad, and the motherboards would have sharc chips
Dee:
bet you would like to get your hands on that
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
And then there would be the graphics card
jokerfish:
OH YES!
Dee:
gee, there is me thinking a agp 256 is cool
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
The software would be specially written to work in the sharc chips
Dee:
wow..
jokerfish:
There are audio equivalents.
jokerfish:
TC Electronics and Creamware
Dee:
i use some of the plugs in from TC
jokerfish:
But they don't make motherboards yet
Dee:
yeah.. man i might ask you to build a music pc for me
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
hehehe!
jokerfish:
Hey Take10! You're very quiet!
Dee:
so is it true that the cable came out for the visuals tonight?
jokerfish:
Probably.
jokerfish:
These things usually have simple explanations like that!
Dee:
oh I was so sad when I logged in and could hear it and not see..so I just turned the volume and let Bugge and the guys enter the flat
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
You know what I'm waiting for?
Dee:
no idea?.
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
To see the first drunk person to go on the webcam!
Dee:
lol...yeah i was thinking that earlier.
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
I want ot see what Bugge looks like with a skinful!
Dee:
lol..
jokerfish:
And if the cam goes tumbling, we'll know the reason why!
Dee:
guess they are having a nice night..
Dee:
a cool gig and a nice party to follow..
Dee:
tough life for some
jokerfish:
|Probably
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
They are eating and drinking and making merry!
Dee:
they are prob on the stage again jamming
Dee:
lol
Dee:
slighty more way out then before..
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
That's actually not unheard of!
Dee:
sometimes I would imagine it must turn into the best gigs
Dee:
and sometimes not
Dee:
lol
Dee:
hey you there take10?.
jokerfish:
I have been told of gigs where various luminaries were jamming - just because they could! There seems to be a good network of friendship there.
Dee:
yeah I wish other parts of Europe could check what these guys are doing,I think it is a real human thing that they are doing..
jokerfish:
For example, Audun K and Bugge go back a long way together
Dee:
is that so?
jokerfish:
Yeah. Since school I belive
Dee:
bet they can read eachtother musicaly
Dee:
must be cool
jokerfish:
Most certainly!
jokerfish:
Yeah.
jokerfish:
Those guys can tune into eachopther's wavelength very quickly
Dee:
Im sorry that I don't much of Audun works but I hear he is really good..
jokerfish:
He's incredible. He's more angular and "difficult" than most of the Jazzland catalog (or any catalogue!) but if you listen carefully and with patience, his music becomes more delicate and beautiful.
jokerfish:
It's like a Persian rug. It seems like a big crazy thing, but once you get to know it, you can see the details and understand the story it's telling
Dee:
yeah I have got to check him out,I went into a main store tonight and I asked them if they had a'lot of Bugges stuff and they have it ordered so I hope to get to know a'lot more about there works
jokerfish:
He's also a very witty guy, very funny.
Dee:
lol...
Dee:
nice way of explaning..
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
You should buy through the online shop here: 10 EUR for an album here. Downloadable in FLAC as well as mp3. Full quality
jokerfish:
Burn it at your leisure!
jokerfish:
I know people who have bought the entire catalogue now :)
Dee:
yeah thats more sensible...I think I am a bit, shall we say,I must have all this work like a treasure in a cd cases with song listings etc..not global friendly I know, but I think I am going through a stage
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
Which reminds me: I have to update the RSS feed to include Jon Eberson!
Dee:
there seems to be a'lot of guys on this label?
jokerfish:
Yeah - jewlel cases are terrible things. I prefer cardboard and paper like vinyl comes in
jokerfish:
Maybe it's because Bugge is the boss, but it's a touch piano-centric!
Dee:
yeah,I would like to see the UK get more involved in understanding these thoughts
jokerfish:
It's a cost thing.
Dee:
its great someone like Bugge has the nerve to do what he is doing...I think he will make a real sucess
jokerfish:
Jewel cases are cheaper because they're easier to put the cards and CDs into - apparently
jokerfish:
Well, he's 10 years at it this year!
Dee:
yeah while our childrens children live with the damge
Dee:
crazy isnt it
jokerfish:
Jazzland Records: 10 years old!
Dee:
wow..10 years..
jokerfish:
1996: NCOJ was released
Dee:
i'll raise my glass on that day
jokerfish:
recorded in 1994 through to 1996
Dee:
i love the sound they are getting...
jokerfish:
So it's been a 12 year =journey!
Dee:
they really sit down and work on the artist and get that sound right..
jokerfish:
What I like is the fact that they have a sound without having a sound, if you know what I mean?
Dee:
yeah I do...its so true...
Dee:
its a real sound placed within the pulse of electric..
jokerfish:
ECM manages to make everyone sound like they're on ECM, but JAzzland makes them sound like themselves forst, and Jazzland second
Dee:
and it merges really well
Dee:
yeah...
jokerfish:
themselves first I mean
Dee:
I would say in life right now ECM and jazzland are my favs for music
jokerfish:
But I think Knut Saevik - although he doesn't relaise it - is going to play a big part in the future of electronic jazz
Dee:
there is alot out there and my jazz collecttion is quite large from childhood but I love the way they are doing there thing
Dee:
he was with the tonight?
jokerfish:
What jazz did you listen to before Europe grabbed you by the ears?
jokerfish:
Yeah: he's the samples and beats guy
jokerfish:
He adds a very distinct sound.
Dee:
I grew up on jarret..and herbie bill evans..
jokerfish:
Even though he's using electronics
Dee:
as herbie hancock..
jokerfish:
Aha! Joe Zawinul?
Dee:
etc..
Dee:
most of the guys people hear firstly..
jokerfish:
Yeah: Miles was my door (via Hendrix, weirdly enough)
Dee:
but I grew up in london and was making electronic music as a child..
jokerfish:
Depeche Mode?
Dee:
miles was cool.always had a good eye for band members..
jokerfish:
Or Gary Numan?
jokerfish:
Or Tubeway Army???
Dee:
no I was making electro...
jokerfish:
Ahh!
jokerfish:
Shaun of the Dead must make you laugh, then!
Dee:
when I was about 14 I started making electro music with a qx5fd yamaha sequencer
Dee:
lol
Dee:
with an old floppy format..
Dee:
i used to go into nightclubs that I was to young for and play synths all night
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
Wow! I remember seeing a sequencer at school. A guy brought it in to show us.
Dee:
yeah I saved all my money
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
It was monophonic, and had 16 buttons that could be switched on and off
Dee:
I grew up in a hard part of london so it was either crime and drugs or music..
Dee:
i chose music
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
1 octave
jokerfish:
Don't know what it was
Dee:
sounds mad,
Dee:
lol
Dee:
mine was a little black box...with a few buttons..and you had to save it on floppy, you was lucky if you got a song on it..
jokerfish:
Dhahii says similar of his hometown. He said that he could be an alcoholic, a druggie or a musician or all three :)
Dee:
lol
Dee:
i used to hook it up on a 4 track to record..
Dee:
i had a turntable with a 2 pence piece on it so I could make noise with the needle..
Dee:
lol
Dee:
and would record that
jokerfish:
He comes from a town that has produced a lot of musicians and bands. Ash come from his neck of the woods.
jokerfish:
2 pence on the needle! Heavyweight!
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
Five was as heavy as I got!
Dee:
yeah..on a belt drive turntable..
Dee:
if you spun it backwards it would go mad..
jokerfish:
Oh the hollow grinding noise and the sweet staic crackle!
Dee:
lol..yeah i loved it...my mum hated me as I broke all the hi fis..
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
Heheheh!
jokerfish:
Man! It's getting really late!
Dee:
yeah I was thinking that...maybe we should phone the club
Dee:
lol
jokerfish:
I'm on it now!
Dee:
lol
